Ft. Worth- Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter and R&B artist Leon Bridges hosted a special screening this summer of his short film This is Home, directed by Danny Clinch, in his beloved hometown of Fort Worth, TX. The screening, presented by Squarespace and Gorilla Vs. Bear, took place at Shipping & Receiving. Immediately following the screening, Leon Bridges will perform an intimate stripped-down set in the building that housed his first ever full-band concert.
“This is Home” reflects upon Bridges’ rise from dishwasher and local singer-songwriter to Grammy-nominated, major label star. Directed by Danny Clinch and produced by Preacher, the film also features Leon’s bandmates, including Texas based musicians Austin Jenkins, Jeff Dazey, Andrew Skates, as well as his photographer Rambo, and his mother, Lisa Sawyer.
All net proceeds from the concert were dedicated to Texas Council on Family Violence, the only 501(c) 3 nonprofit coalition in Texas dedicated solely to creating safer communities and freedom from family violence. With a state-wide reach and direct local impact, TCFV, with the collective strength of more than 1000 members, shapes public policy, equips service providers, and initiates strategic prevention efforts.
“We are proud to partner with Leon Bridges, the talented Ft. Worth native who went from dishwasher at a restaurant in Ft. Worth to multi-talented musician. Leon is an example of how hard work and dedication can help you achieve your dreams. We appreciate his dedication to giving back to his community and helping those most in need,” said Gloria Terry, CEO of the Texas Council on Family Violence.
